Well made sable brushes can get a sharper point and are able to hold the point longer while working. Sable has more spring (the ability to return to its original shape) than synthetic bristles. Both of these factors make the sable brush more efficient (you are able to put down more brush strokes before having to re-point your brush). Properly maintained sable brushes can last longer than synthetic brushes.
